EBOLA! Water, and Panic

                                           Ebola

Alright ladies and gentlemen. Apparently Ebola has hit the shelves of the United States.

 Should we be worried?

Well of course.

Should we FREAK out?

No. Of course not.

How do I get it?

You don't. Just don't get it. Instead, get ready.

This is a perfect opportunity to evaluate how ready for a disaster you and your family is.

Also in Ohio, they seem to behaving some trouble with the....water ?

If you are in Ohio, this is kind of a big deal. Wanna know why? Boiling won't fix it. Think about that, if you can't boil your water to drink it, what can you do?

You HAVE to get a fresh source.

So......where is your source of water?

Working as a disaster coordinator, this was the number one question people asked me on a regular basis.

Getting ready for a disaster takes organization and work. But a little time can go a long way. I highly recommend a preparedness calender. CERT offers some amazing information.
Like this calender

When any disaster occurs, panic will ensue. What is your plan for people banging on your door threatening your life? Whats your weapon of choice? Pretend you aren't home? Close and lock the doors and lay low? Advertise your firepower?

and finally

So...the end of the world. Fitness

It came and went, and it seems as though we are all pretty much still here...right?

So what happened? Were the Mayans wrong?

I offer to you this article in case you still need to prepare.

http://www.cracked.com/article_19038_the-7-most-stupidly-overpowered-hunting-weapons.html
THIS IS A BULLET   ;)

Now, I am not saying we shouldn't be prepared. We should all be prepared. Lets start small. We are not all keen on weapons and such, I have been told.

So, fitness? If you can't fight run, right?

With fitness you can do both.

I have done some research into a few fitness related baubles that will help you keep track of how you are doing. Or the machine thinks you are doing.

1. FIT BIT

Now the results for this according to amazon, are pretty good. The price is right, and if you don't lose it ( which some people did) or drop ( which I am sure I would do) it seems like a good way to measure your day to day activities. Even sleep and stair climbs!

I doubt it is very accurate in regards to sleep or calorie count. It offers an accelerometer  and really you should have some heart rate monitor for how many calories you are counting.....
Apps for apple and android, although wireless syncing only for apple Iphones at this time( lame)
I have played with the app on my droid and  it seems cool.

2. Nike fuel band

Nike+ FuelBand
LOOKS SO COOL!
and this one offers game theory to keep you motivated. As an avid gamer( hence the weight I have gained over the last few years)

This truly appeals to me. The bar decreases when you sit on your tuckus for too long, it then alarms and tells you to do some activities to fill up the bar again........ I likey.
There were numerous accounts of the product breaking after the first few months though. It also serves as a watch. It does not do sleep tracking or alarm like the fit bit, and is 2X the price.
and it comes in white......The app is only for apple at this time, but you can use your desktop of course.

3.Basis
going beyond simply motion based
Now this does both well, and is about the same price as the nike fuel band. Only downside is.....its totally out of stock. This one actually tracks calories and sleep with monitors!!

Daily preparation

Well, the local Mud run has come and gone, and I did not participate. Did you?

Regardless, being athletic in running, studying up on your parkuor , and learning how to shoot a bow and arrow may help you but don't forget the little things. A go kit under your bed and in your car is also helpful .Go Kit

Don't forget a copy of some basic information like a copy of your drivers license  The world may fall apart, but it might not be there yet. You could get pulled over in your jammies and need to explain yourself.

Here are some fun things for you to explore.

Zombie tools, because any good authority should know

Hello! And welcome back to Rasczak's Roughnecks. Today we will talk about some weapons on the market that are AMAZING!!! we will have pictures and we will drool with veracity.

We start at the zombie tool website     -----> http://zombietools.net/

a group of weaponsmiths who re-make blade designs for us to yearn for.  I will start with my favorite.

The Mack Daddy-O

The Mack Daddy-O
What else is there to say? It is beautiful isn't it? And it's huge. The description is on the website, and worth the meander. Not only is this blade awesome looking but serious quality as well.

During the zombie apocolypse, one must have a blade that it high quality but easy to manage. I suggest these guys. Next ( I will continue with my favorites to least favorite, but really I want them all)

NEW! Bone Machete 2012

and there are more!!!  Go one, go drool!!

On another note, Arma II( the video game for both console and PC ) has a DAY Z addition to it's game that it pretty realistic, all the way from first aid and giving your character, to if your character dies, your character is dead!( I know, novel isn't it?)

Being a fan of steam I have brought you the websites

(picture stolen from    http://caroleparker.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html)
from what I am told it is pretty detail oriented, which could take away from game play, if you play to have fun, not survive.

And have an amazing day!

Alright readers

The fourth will be we underway. As the world falls apart around us(people are eating each other pretty regularly now) we need to keep in mind that fireworks are a great weapon for gathering and disseminating the hungry horde.Downsides?More zombies possibly unwanted human thieves.Remember in your zombie apocalypse day to day survival, zombies are bad,but its your "friends"you have to worry about.Keep your apocalypse ear to the ground.

It's been awhile, but there is always something to do.

Ammo cans. A necessity for any gun carrier. How will you know what ammo you have if you don't label it?

We spent the weekend spray painting and labelling our different ammo cans so we knew what ammo we could grab when we went shooting. Nothing worse when you grab 12 gauge for your 9 mil.

Fun and always a good way to be ready in a hurry. Keep things simple, use the same pattern so your eye always knows where to look, and have fun.

We also like a to get extra clips ready and loaded, for that just in case scenario. Seems as though the ZA is just around the corner with all this face eating.........

Here is some light reading from the CDC.

Happy hunting!!!
